The successful candidate will be a key member of the Digital Trading desk, collaborating with the data scientists and quant traders to implement and maintain systematic trading solutions which are aligned with the overall technical strategy of SM&T. The candidate will be a customer focused, team player who offers strong designs with attention to detail in data engineering and optimisation as well as offering scalable designs.

What You Will Do

You’ll be responsible for supporting the Digital Development team to enhance the research data platform for automated trading strategies. These will include automated detection and resolution of data issues, plus integration of python models into enterprise estate.

You’ll work with IT functions to ensure accurate data sourcing, validation, transformation and analysis, alongside working with traders and front office quants to develop solutions for strategy, research, development, and execution: API access to Digital toolset, machine learning pipeline, and development tools and technologies.

• Develop a close relationship with market specialists (traders/analysts) to ensure that you deliver solutions that meet the commercial needs of the Digital Trading Desk

• Responsible for all phases of the software life cycle including communicating specific subject matter knowledge of design, development, testing and support

• Processing large data volumes from various sources and tuning performance to minimise latency

What You Will Bring

You’ll possess strong skills in Python, particularly with libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, and Pandas. These tools will have been instrumental in your ability to handle data manipulation, analysis, and numerical computations efficiently. Your hands-on experience includes delivering technology solutions in both front office and start-up environments. You have consistently provided high-quality development solutions while taking responsibility for quality assurance in fast-paced settings, ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standard.

In addition to your technical expertise, you have a solid knowledge base in mathematics, finance, and computer programming. This combination has allowed you to effectively research, develop, and operate trading strategies and opportunities. Your understanding of these fields has been crucial in identifying market trends, optimising trading algorithms, and implementing robust financial models.

• Commercial acumen – experience of delivering production level solutions to business-critical deadlines

• Team player – able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team and develop productive working relationships

• Experience of continuous integration and software development lifecycle approaches

• Experience of iterative delivery with proven track record in software design, development and support

• Knowledge in C# and SQL server database is desirable
